Yet Another NYC-Centric Music and Comedy Blog That Nobody Reads
Thursday, July 26, 2007
UPDATES NOT COMING SOON There are way too many blogs out there regurgitating the same information as zillions of other unoriginal blogs and this sucker is no different. This blog has had no updates since July of 07 and I don't see myself bothering with any in the future. So this son of a bitch is on hiatus.
Anything I do end up writing will (hopefully) end up HERE. Search for "klaus kinski"

UNION HALL 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY - Sunday 7/15/07 Tearing The Veil of Maya Edition, featuring Michael Showalter, Eugene Mirman, David Cross, Janeane Garofalo, special musical guests
I am taking time from my vacation on the beach to write this, so you better appreciate it, fucker*. The comedy event of UnionHall'sFirstAnniversaryWeek has been announced and it's a whopper. The comedy spectacle will take place on the main level, while a surprise band and DJs will dominate the basement live room. I don't get to Union Hall much these days, but a Union Hall-wide show of this caliber brings to mind the hot sweaty claustrophobia inducing Onion Christmas Party from last year... Anyhow, here's the details

Last night I went to Panda Bear's second of two sold out shows at Bowery Ballroom and have to say that the live experience really overshadowed the album experience. He did the tunes from Person Pitch (and then some), but the tunes were tweaked, either in small ways, or in huge ways, and it felt to me like every song was significantly better than the album. His singing was superb and the audio-visual additions worked so well with the music. The back-drop projections featured an array of imagry ranging from pornographic collage, a head-banger pounding some drums in the middle of a rocky wasteland, people freaking out at a stadium, and many other very abstract scenes. It was a lot of fun and exceeded any expectations I had going into the show. I feel fortunate to have seen this show as there are currently no other tour dates on the horizon and the dude lives in Lisbon. However, if he ever ends up in your neighborhood GO!
UPCOMING - SOUTH TOWARD HOME BENEFIT SOUTHPAW, BROOKLYN * * * 7/12/07 * * * Feat. TINKLE with DAVID CROSS, TODD BARRY, AND JON BENJAMIN
If you think New Orleans and its surrounding areas are even remotely back to normal since Hurricane Katrina, you're out of your fucking mind. Ignored by our own government and basically left to try to pick up the pieces on their own, the Gulf Coast region is still in shambles.
Luckily organizations like South Towards Home are busting their asses to keep the spirit of renewal alive and active.
Brooklyn's Southpaw will play host to a South Towards Home comedy benefit on 7/12/07. Guests include David Cross, Todd Barry, and Jon Benjamin. Tickets are $25.00. That line-up is worth the ticket price alone. The fact that it's going to such a good cause makes it even better. So go! Donate! Fucking do something!
