REVIEW! BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE - WEBSTER HALL - 1/27/06

On Friday I checked out Broken Social Scene at Webster Hall. I just have to start by saying that if it wasn't for the incredible sound crew working at Webster Hall, this show wouldn't have been half as good as it was. They've put in hours and hours of back-breaking work to beef up the sound system there and I must say that the sound has improved exponentially over the past year. In addition, the care and effort the monitor techs give the acts is tremendous. If the monitors sound good, the band will play better, and we get a better performance....end of story.

I personally have never heard Broken Social Scene before this. For some reason the band's name puts me off. I always assumed they were some retarded kiddie punk band so I never bothered to give them a listen. Actually, I am sort of glad I am ignorant; seeing them live is probably a better first experience than listening to one of their records. The 13 or 15 person band played for nearly three hours and the whole show was a tapestry of different styles, sounds, and moods. Excellent stuff.

THE ENIGMA OF THE RIGHT ARM BANDAGE

The mysterious bandage... Unless I visit a vascular surgeon, that bandage will stay with me like the ringing in my ears. So don't ask. Or ask. Whatever.

I AM IN!! DREAM THEATER - LIVE CONCERT / RECORDING -
RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL - 4/1/06

I have always been skeptical about the myth that ticketmaster will randomly make tickets available to shows it had previously claimed were 'sold out'. I am a picky concert goer, so for a venue like Radio City I refuse to sit anywhere but in the orchestra. All week ticketmaster has been stating that either no orchestra seats are available or, if some WERE available, they were all the way in the back. Today I lucked out and got a ticket in row LL of section 6. Section six is a bit far over, but my ticket is nearer the aisle towards the center of the venue.

So now I am reall cranked to be able to experience the 20th anniversary live show at Radio City Music Hall.

UPCOMING! DREAM THEATER - LIVE CONCERT / RECORDING -
RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL - 4/1/06

Welp, I don't have a ticket yet because I was on vacation when they went on sale. But, god willing, someone out there simply MUST have the heart to sell me an orchestra seat for only slightly above face value. Right? Someone? PLEASE?!

Anyhow, Dream Theater is wrapping up it's 20th anniversary tour with a live show at Radio City Music Hall. The show, which I sadly may not be able to attend because I'm an idiot, will be recorded for a mind-blowing live DVD and CD release.

Did I mention I met MIKE PORTNOY at an Opeth show in 2005?

Someone please sell me an orchestra ticket! Love, Klaus
